What is Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy

*Please Note: This treatment requires a Family General Physician or Virtual/Web General Physician Referral*

Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy (USGS) is a non-surgical, highly specialized and minimally-invasive technique for treating varicose veins below the skin. The procedure is highly effective and involves injecting a sclerosing agent into the abnormal veins using ultrasound guidance, damaging the vein wall causing it to collapse.

How It Works

A needle is placed directly into the desired vein using ultrasound technology to locate the vein and injection site, and then injected with sclerotherapy foam designed to close and collapse varicose veins, causing them to shrink and disappear. Using this technology allows for precision and ideal treatment results, while also reducing the risk of complications such as Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), ultimately making it one of the safest treatment options for varicose veins.
